Local food

It does not work without tea. Whether black or green, the tea is not missing at any meal. Especially popular is the milk-tea for breakfast with some butter inside.

The national fruit is the apricot. Dried apricots in various sizes and degrees of hardness can be bought all year round. In summer you can buy fresh apricots in different sizes and maturity levels on every shop and bazar. The apricot also processed to jam and juice.

The national dish is the Plov. A rice meal with beef, carrots and onions. It is prepared with garlic, salt and cumin. Plov has a long tradition in Central Asia and its preparation varies by region.

All dishes in Pamir have a multicultural influence, especially from countries such as Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
