First place among the 2018 sustainable destinations Top 100 ”Best Of Asia-Pacific” series in recognition of its efforts towards responsible tourism and distinctive appeal.

The destination promotes sustainable tourism as a way of supporting local people by creating fair job opportunities for everyone, including for such disadvantaged groups as single mothers and people from remote areas. In addition to destination marketing and product development, the Pamirs Eco Cultural Tourism Association (PECTA) works on preserving the historical heritage of the Pamirs, including protection of natural resources: support of the Tajik National Park – a UNESCO nature heritage site – is among its protection of natural resources initiative."
